5 Essentials Every Party Needs

Updated: Oct 16, 2019

We've all either hosted a party or attended an event as a guest. Some are better planned out than others - too much food, or not enough food. The music is too loud or there's no music at all. It's a standing party only or outdoors on a windy day. Whatever the weather and whatever the event type, there are 5 things that every event, no matter how big or small, that are essentials to leaving a long lasting impression!

1. FOOD

This is probably one of the most important essentials for any event. You can't expect guests to attend your event, socialize for hours and not get hungry. Of course, budget and the type of event plays a big role - you can go with a 5 course sit down meal with antipasto, pasta, steak, etc, for an event at a Banquet Hall or you can order in a pizza with other finger foods like spring rolls chicken wings for a SuperBowl Party. Moral of the story, feed your guests. You wouldn't want anyone to be hangry!

2. DECOR

No need to go overboard for this one.. but it's definitely the fun part! This is where you get to showcase your style and your artistic side. Whether the event be a Sesame Street theme for a little ones birthday or a Modern Rustic feel for a bridal shower, whatever the theme and whatever the event, decor is always needed to leave a long lasting impression with your guests. Opt for a round mesh backdrop with florals for photos with your guests or jumbo balloons with ribbon tassels as centrepieces.

3. MUSIC

No event is complete without some music to set the tone of the event. Classical and Jazz usually are perfect for elegant occasions like weddings or charity events. Top 40 hits are probably a better route for a Sweet 16. Before your event, make a playlist to have some background sound.

4. PHOTOGRAPHER

Nothing is as disappointing as throwing an amazing event and not having good pictures with your guests (or even to look back at years from now). Don't skip out on this one! Hire a photographer or if you're on a budget, assign a family member or friend to help you out and snap those perfect shots.

5. SEATING

Last but not least, have seating. This is a no brainer if you're having a sit down dinner. But some events are so casual and have high top tables, but no chairs anywhere. And we get that this is the type of party to help your guests socialize with one another but it's important to have some some seating options as sometimes one of your guests may get tired of standing. Think of your 80 year old grandmother, or a tired child.

Your guests will thank you for your hospitality, but what about them for taking the time out of their lives to attend? Don't forget the thank you notes to show your appreciation!
